5 reasons to stick with online events

At Rees McCann we help organisations – especially global humanitarian organisations such as Unicef, large charities such as Norwegian Refugee Council, communities of practice, and public bodies – to hold highly-participative events online.

As trainers and facilitators, we work “in real life” as well. Events like this one near Paris can be great fun and super useful.

But we’re not giving up on online. We think online events – and online and hybrid working more generally – are the future.

These 5 reasons to stick with online events matter the most to us:

  1. Save money, save time and save the planet. Work travel accounts for 20% of aviation’s 1.04 billion tons of annual carbon emissions, for example. This is going to matter even more as global economic challenges grow, people’s calendars get even busier, and climate change worsens
  2. Include everyone. Cost, disability, neurodiversity, social factors, and travel hassles can all keep people away from in-the-room events. Online can be much more inclusive – even while throwing fresh light on inequalities and providing a new set of challenges
  3. Stay connected. Online, we can network easily before and after the event, building solid relationships that last and which help to deliver positive change
  4. Reach and scale. Can you really imagine disconnecting from your global stakeholder network now, throwing away what you’ve built?
  5. Build engagement. Well-designed, well-run online events can be highly participative, creative and enjoyable! That’s what we do

If you’re curious about the “how” behind each of these points, we’ve got you covered. Over the coming weeks we’ll be running short online events to explore each of these benefits – and to share what we’ve learned during our “pandemic boom”. Look out for news very soon!
